Makes alot of sense to kill 4ā¦But hey its cobia season so if its close to legal kill em all. Our fishery will continue to thriveā¦
i knew there would be at least one person who would make that comment⦠congrats PRO⦠but i did miss one site casting, so maybe you can catch that one this weekend while you are fishing in BOTH of the cobia tournaments.

Regulations are set in place to maintain a sustainable fishery. if you disagree with the regulations that are in place, take it up with the authorities, not the folks that follow the rules. if the fisherman is within the law , you have no justification to harass him.
please feel free to release all the fish you catch.

Well maybe we can take 4 people and put a pic of 8 dead ones on the deck. Shouldnt be hard at the Ross on satā¦Thats where those catfish live

and PRO, best of luck to you⦠i hope you catch those eight fish on sat.
by the way, how is me killing four cobia in one day and you killing 19 or 28 dolphin in one day any different?

Thats easy. The Dorado is the fastest growing fish in the ocean. Check out any reports from OI and watch em kill 60 a day. They are plentiful. Cobia on the other hand move inshore to spawn on the east coast in very few places. Beaufort is lucky enough to have that place. All im saying is the limit should be no more than one per person or 2 per boat. But hey like I said the bigger they are the more eggs they have so lets kill everyone and see where we are in 20 years. Everyone will be going to the fabulous panhandle to Cobia fish. Just my .02
First off not taking sides here. I have no dog in the fight. I shouldnāt be posting but in between trips and bored. I have no problem staying within the limits if you are not going to waste good meat. I personally donāt kill anything Iām not or family is not going to eat. But I do feel there is a big difference between dolphin and cobia when it comes down to overfishing. Dolphin avg lifespan is four years were a cobia can go 15 plus. To me that is a huge difference. Also as pro mentioned the growth rate of dolphin are incredible. I primarily fish offshore were less than 15 percent of boat owners fish. We have a special cobia fishery here but it is a fishery were 99 percent of boat owners can have a chance at that fish. Again to me another huge difference in separating the two species. Iāve been working on the water on HHI for long time and seen our fishery change over those years. I think people get a little defensive(with every right to) protecting that special cobia thing we got going on right now. Like I said no sides here just bored. Good on ya for your catch not trying to take away from a great day on the water just feel there is a difference between dolphin fishing and cobia fishing. I personally would like to see those limits reduced on cobia as pro said to two per boat. But into they do I feel you have the right to keep your limits.

Well start keeping your .02 to yourself⦠We have enough rules and regulations on what we can and canāt keep already! If you donāt like what he did then keep scrolling thereās no need for you to criticize him when he didnāt break the rules or the law for that matter. A simple nice catch would have done fine and move on! He doesnāt get out there and keep 4-5 fish every day. He goes when he has a chance and if he wants to keep his limit he has every dam.n right to!

Nice catch ! To everyone there own. You can blame charter boats as much as individual fishermen no problem as long as regulations are followed. I believe itās a up to the individuals to follow their own convictions. Just remember that when the fishery becomes un sustainable our personal control of the fishery will be lost.

i understand being responsible and respective to our natural resources. i want the cobia to be here many years to come so that i will be able to take my 7 mo old fishing for them when he is old enough. i also know that i work six days a week and get to fish about twice a month. so if i have a chance to catch 4 in one day, then im sure as hell going to do it. there are guides that will go out 4-5 days a week and catch 3,4,5,6,? fish a week. week after week after week⦠so who is the killing the cobia population faster?? both are legal⦠hell, i know people on this forum who have killed more than 4 cobia this year already just not all on one day⦠there are limits on fish for a reason⦠obviously āsomeoneā determined that the current limits will allow cobia to maintain good growth and reproduce at a fast enough rate to sustain a healthy population. just like āsomeoneā determined that 60 dolphin in one day will still allow dolphin to sustain its population⦠so is it ok to catch 60 dolphin in one day but not 4 cobia?
