Who Was In the 38LX Fountain at the GTH on 4/25

Seriously people. I don’t even know why I even try to help.

Chris V, were not discussing the build of the boat. We’re discussing the personality of the man that buys the boat. And as far as the screws going the same way. Please explain that to me a again. I’m no mechanic, but on my Glacier Bay its “righty-tighty, lefty-loosey” all the way around. Maybe I missunderstood what you were saying.

No Fishoutawater, That guy couldn’t afford a Fountain. But you will be able to identify them. Shoot, you could put 100 people in identical blue jumpsuits and after asking three simple non-fishing questiosn you could identify the Foutain owners.

And Tirless, you blatantly admit that you troll the VHF? That’s like boasting about taking Viagra! Which brings up another good point…

Midgie,

Can you help me out a bit more? Maybe help me develop the right questions so I won’t be led astray. I was thinking maybe you could come up with three questions with multiple choice answers to help me sort out who is whom. For instance based on your test I would know whether the guy had a Fountain, Other Assorted CC, Glacier, 16’ Boat, or 6 inner tubes roped and duct taped together like the plastic rings from a six pack with a 4x8 sheet of plywood lashed on top with a lawn chair bolted in the middle.

You Fountain Fellows and Glacier Guys, other assorted boat owners fell free to submit your own version of the quiz!! Really, I am fascinated by this whole thing.

FishOutAWater

fishoutawater,
you are so right about shoes and women. sandals are not going to get you anything, eventhough I always wear them fishing or to the beach, but when I want some real action:wink:, then its time for the new shoes. Shine em up, helps w/ the landing ratio. new sneakers usually will do the trick w/ most girls. it is rather amazing this phenomena. a friend’s mom told me about this shoe thing a couple years ago, and to my disbelief, it was so true. i always thought it mattered about what is on the inside, but no–not at all, if a girl sees your new shiny shoes, they think you have money, and then its fun time:kissing_closed_eyes: if you know what I mean, and being a girl in the shoe club, I know that you do.

Let’s go fishing!

For all of you who DO like Fountains, and are not afraid of the image that Midgie aspires to propagate, the local dealer for Fountain Powerboats in the Charleston area is Summerville Marine, and they have a 38LX on order right now. They also stock 31’s and 34’s (like ours), and have some boats on the showfloor. Go by and check them out. “Tritonjim” who talks on this site sells boats there.

Folks in the Myrtle beach area–North Myrtle Beach Marine/Silver Coast Marine is the dealer up there. Savannah area–A Boater’s Paradise. All very nice folks.

We have decided to keep our 34 at least for another season or so.

Thanks,

midge4,
i wasnt talking about the way you insert the screw in the hole im talking about the slot created in the head of the scre where you insert the screwdriver, the slots are all lined up pointing in the same direction | | | | | | not \ / \ | \ / used for description only they were actually phillips heads but i couldnt find a key on the keyboard to make a skewed +

as far as the personality of the owner, i have met some guys with big battlewagons that were pretty high on the cheese scale and some go fast that were great guys. but the gold chain back hair tanning oil ronny boat is still way to funny, and the back hair velcro:stuck_out_tongue::stuck_out_tongue:
lets not get all venomous with the stereotyping for real.
i think we need to judge these things on a case by case basis, cause i have heard bad stuff about cc owners as well, but i dont want to be part of that group.

2-3 and 9 seconds apart, YEAH RIGHT!!!

Fishoutawater, I don’t really have time to dive into this one right now, but some good early probing questions are things we’ve already discussed. For example, if the guy pulls up on one of these:
http://www.suzukicycles.com/Products/GSX1300RZK4/
its a pretty good chance…

A key question is obviously gonna be: What color skin toner do they request when getting a spray-on tan in December?, or who is more of a modern day genius, Ferruccio Lamborghini or Enzo Ferrari?
—Now what funny about those two questions is that there is no correct answer, but if they go into long discussion about it; you know you’ve got a Ronnie.

And of course if they are drinking anything with Crown Royal they are most definitely part of the “community”

I hope this helps a little.

I heard that they worship satan and steal perscription medecine from old ladies…

it’s in the Fountain “owners” manual

My boat’s bigger than your boat

and Chris. I do believe that is the most pointless and useless thing a company could do during production of a boat. But not to worry, I’m sure that expense is passed on to the customer.

And some customers actually consider it an extra luxury worth paying a premium for. Go figure huh. Kind of fits right up the alley I’ve been discussing doesn’t it?

MIDGE4
where were you last night???
i was at the grillage at 0300 and couldt find you anywhere
after a few hours bobbing around a coast gaurd patrol boat got a little suspicious and when i told him i was waiting for a buddy so we could set up a secret code on the radio his attitude change dramatically and people on deck started scurrying behind those big metal pointy things that could swerve around and they said not to move, and i said i wasnt leaving until you got there anyway. they finally left about 700
now lets hear the excuse as why you couldnt make it

I’ve been amused by all the comments on this thread about Fountain Powerboats. Some educated comments and some not. Some Fountain owners are new to boating and some are experianced boaters. Most buy Fountain Boats for the ride, some for the performance. Some just like to have the best built, safest, best handling boats ever built.
President George Bush just took delivery of a new 38 CC with triple Mercury 275hp Verados Tuesday. The new boat ran 74 mph, 15 mph faster than the “High Performance” Coast guard boats. Now you ask yourself why would an 80 year old past President want a Fountain and why would he want to go that fast to go fishing? Because he knows that Fountain is the Fastest, Safest, Best handling boat ever built.
I could go on about all the other satisfied owners of Fountain Powerboats and why, but until you see the construction, experiance the ride, fuel economy, Rough water handling your missing the boat.
Lee, you and your Dad know how other boats are built buy the Insurance claims that are filed and the nature of the claims. You Chose Fountain Powerboats twice! And now your looking for another one. Fountain Powerboats has 12 new models coming out this fall, more fish boats, cruisers, and performance boats. Check out [/url]www.fountainpowerboats.com
Plant tours are always welcome at Fountain Powerboats call 252 975 2000 and ask for the sales dept.

Chris, this is a covert operation. We re-scheduled for 0100 Saturday on the 18th green of Patriots Point.

Ben, if your title is who you actually are. Tell me why deadrise is not listed for all models (especially the fishing layouts)on your website. Just wondering. And what can you tell us about tightie-whities? Indoor only…or is it OK to cut your grass in 'em if its early enough?

oh and Ben. Does the deadrise change from bow to stern? and how does that affect the ride in choppy seas?

Right on, Benny! See my earlier posts on this thread. You already know that I am possibly the biggest Fountain advocate around these parts, because I have the living proof of their quality and design superiority. We drove 75 miles in 75 minutes to the GTH on Sunday (each way), and everyone loved the ride (an attorney and two paralegals were with me). The people we see buying Fountains are lawyers, doctors, presidents, business owners, law enforcement, etc. And, like I said earlier in this thread, we consider the Fountains a relatively low risk.

I do have to correct you on one thing though Benny–we have owned THREE Fountains, not two.

Midgie, Benny IS who he says he is. He works directly for Reggie Fountain on boat design, and knows his stuff. If you want to argue about boat design with someone, he’s probably the WRONG person to pick a fight with.

I started this thread to compliment a fellow Fountain owner’s boat, and to hopefully gain his business, and I found out that he was someone we already insured. Then the teasing started, which is fine, but irritating to some, perhaps many. I don’t mind being the target as long as it’s in jest. So, I have tried to stay pretty nuetral.

I really don’t want to draw any fire from Midgie and the peanut gallery, but…

Thanks Benny for speaking up for your product. I stand by my earlier statements–that the Fountain is an excellent boat, and everyone that rides with me loves it. You can also see from the earlier posts in this thread that many others share our opinion. Don’t worry about the hecklers, Benny, they’re just having fun at our expense; and they probably don’t really mean it. They know that real “rednecks” are people who insult others and their property publicly, brag about how much alcohol they drank last night, boast about their self-proclaimed superior knowledge and never show proof, say “my dog is better than your dog”, and generally get loud in the mouth and obnoxious. The guys I know with Fountains are, for the most part, quite the o

P.S., Benny,

In case you read this before we talk again, and by some chance got offended by my comments above, wherein I said to the Aut-Top-Sea “it’s nothing like the top-notch ride you’re on”, please note that those comments were in reference to their boat, which is a million+dollar sportfisher/yacht that we insure, and that cathces more tuna than anyone I know. So, it was by no means a negative remark toward Fountain. In fact, I was responding to a compliment on our boat, given by the guys that run the Aut-top-sea on the previous page.

Make sure you read the whole thread, so you can see the entire context of this whole thing–'cause it’s a doosey. I have just been trying to take the punches in good light and in good humor, and keep it mellow.

Thanks again,

Damm Lee. you win. Your essays make me want stick a fork in the socket.

My thoughts and opinions are based on over 20 years of boating.

I’m not going to come out and say Fountains $uck, I’m just going to tell you that I think the motivating factor behind buying a Fountain is the pointy bow, the sleek lines, and the top speed. The type of person that buys a boat for those reasons is a person that makes me roll my eyes and throw my hands in the air.

In my opinion they are no different than JetSkiers.

I’m sure a Fountain is great if you fish one day month and have to run 70 miles north to catch bait and then 40 miles south to find the perfect water you need (King tournaments… hint… hint). But the day in day out center console charter captains absolutely do not fish Fountain, Donzi, Scarab etc. etc. unless they fish within 10 of shore.

Peace, I’m out. I’m meeting some guys from Fountain for Crown and Gingers in an hour.

Thank you Benny and Fountain Power Boats. I am having a blast with my 31 Fountain CC Open. The boat’s efficiency, control, ride, speed and finish are excellent. Your customer support is also outstanding.

Safe seas and tight lines!

:sunglasses: i hope when im 80 i still want to fish in a fountain or anything else that goes almost as fast as i am old[:0]

You guys need to lighten up a bit!!! As of this posting, this thread has been read 4752 times. What are people reading about? In between the teasing, which many of us have stated, has been in fun, we are reading about Fountain Boats and Gotcha Covered,
Lee Strickland

“The boat insurance people”.

So what does that mean? You are getting lots of free advertising and people are enjoying hearing about your product in a slightly unconventional way. Stop being so darn defensive. Lee, you have been able through out the posts to share with people the need to check their policies for mileage limits and boat value in case of damage. I am sure you have gotten some folks to think about their policies and their agents, which is good for you and for them.

Also, I went to the Fountain web site several days ago and checked out their boats to enquire a bit more about what all the fuss is about. I am sure I am not the only one. I am sure some of the folks who looked along with me are in the market for a boat. Let me ask you this, do you think anyone who has read this thread will ever forget Reggie Fountain boats or Gotcha Covered,
Lee Strickland

“The boat insurance people”???/ Companies pay millions of dollars trying to get people to remember their company name.

There are certain types of people that gravitate toward certain vehicles. If you see a Honda Accord in a parking lot with lots of customization, a huge stereo, fan blade hub caps, frame lowered close to the ground with mini wheels, who do you picture driving that car? You see in that same parking lot a 1975 Ford F-150 spray painted with leaf camouflage, who do you picture driving that truck? You see another car, mint condition 1961 Corvette convertible with optional hard top, candy apple red, who do think is driving that one? A few spaces down a Gremlin with the back hatch glass and bumper duct taped in place, primer spot

FiashOutAWater,

You called others cranky! You should limit your coffee to only one cup this morning. The point you made (?) is not the same as Mulletcut’s opinion. He just flat out says Fountains suck and implies it’s owners are basically stupid (he is certainly free to have that opinion, heck, my wife shares it at times). In my book, if somebody calls another person a moron, one certainly has the option to refute that statement…unless of course you are a moron.

BTW - you asked why people are reading this thread, probably because it’s funny as hell and everybody could use a good laugh (which I am doing as I write this response).

Safe seas and tight lines!

David
