What’s interesting is the amount of people that get upset over a fisherman catching fish to eat!
Seems a lot just love to stick a hook in 40 or more spottail pull em out the water look at em and them throw them back in. What would be wrong with a person limiting him/herself to a 1/2 dozen and then target another area?
I don’t post fishing reports because all my buddies that used to be on this site when it started (can’t even remember my old user name) no longer care for fishing. I believe it was a fad for them.
Pea Pod, your right, bite is on fire… It’s a coin toss, hunt the rut or load up on trout. Better yet, do both!
Caught two limits of trout and spot tail last weekend not too far from the governor’s dock. Some were eaten that same day the rest are waiting for my daughters birthday party. I used live shrimp and my son was using a new penny gulp under a green cajun thunder. Fished a little at dead low “jigging” a live shrimp on the bottom to finish our limit of trout. Caught a couple of black drum that were too small to keep.
I have not fished very much at all this year. New daughter and very busy work, combined with a broken water pump on the “Butter Baster”, have kept me off the water. That said I really enjoy reading others posts to help me feel like I am fishing more. I will be posting more when time allows. I hope others will continue.

me too.
thank you all for the replies.
more worthless rambling…
i relocated here circa 1990. experienced with largemouth, but green and dumb with any saltwater fishin.
got on this board, poured over the inshore reports almost daily. i got better.
Several men in my family taught me to fish and to love being outdoors. my main goal was learn fishin here so I could pass that along to my sons.
then several years ago, i met several fishermen on this site. they helped me ALOT. I’m not sure why.
they took and continue to take me and my sons fishing. I can’t explain their kindness except to say that it’s undeserved and I’ll never be able to pay em back.
they are real students and stewards of the resource, great respect for the fishery.
so in some corny way, I feel some kind of obligation to pass something along.
The timing of this is is good for me because I decided about a week and a half ago that I was going to blow off the buzzard skwawks and start posting more reports here again.
I was thinking of not posting this, but in case it might help someone in some way, I’ll go ahead.
Jimislander went with me today, and we pitched grubs on the Wando. We managed a dozen trout and a baker’s dozen of redfish–all on smoke silver and copper grubs. Got several top-of-the-slot reds today–nice “square” fish. Trout were still smallish, but a little better today. The water was still fairly muddy on the outgoing tide on the main river. I still haven’t gone to the upper Wando as planned. I meant to check it out today, but ended up staying below Horlbeck all day because my TM batteries weren’t fully charged, and I didn’t really think that exploring new ground on a falling tide with a weak TM was a great idea. I’m pretty determined to hit the upper Wando on my next trip over that way, though.

I’ve always heard the upper Wando was good, as y’all are implying, but whenever I fish that river, I put in at Remley’s and never end up making it past Horlbeck because I always think, “I’ll just check this spot out for a few minutes” and end up catching fish and not making it north. I probably would have hit it up yesterday if I’d had a full charge on the batteries.
Peapod, people are willing to help good people and who they like to be around. This sport has a lot of good people who are there to have fun and watch others have fun. Seeing someone else catch a fish is just as exciting as catching one yourself. If you make that possible, it feels good.
DFreedom, HILARIOUS! lmao
We’re stuck between Barack and a hard place. Hide their food stamps under their working boots.
I gotta tell you. I think it’s great to see people becoming more encouraged to post more fishing reports here–and not just “locals” and “experts”. Like I said above, if you got 'em, post 'em. If someone gets nasty and derails an innocent fishing report for no reason, ruining it for everyone, let’s all pull together and discourage that. If you want to make buzzard calls, go roll in the hay with us political hounds in the politics forum, or argue football with the rivals in the sports section, but let’s keep fishing reports fun and open the way it ought to be.

I don’t post reports every time I go fishing because I just don’t want to take the time and doubt if anyone gives hoot in hell. I post when I feel my trip might be worth reading about. I don’t know anyone on this site as I have mostly fished with my kids, my brother, or alone, so I don’t have any real “fishng buddies.” It’s not that am anti-social , it’s just the way Charleston is. I don’t have a Charleston pedigree ,meaning I’m from the up-country, although I have lived and fished here for 26 years now. I agree with the post about the web making it easier to be succesful at catching fish in a shorter amount of time. My learning curve was long and slow. I fished inshore a good 10 years before I started catching fish on a consistent basis. Just my 2 cents worth. I could be completely off base.
I’ve enjoyed it, but like some or many have already said, once in awhile its like “is it worth it?”.
I’ve avoided much posting except for milestones, like the bull red fun. Much of the reason isn’t because I’ve been targeted with much negativity, but some that I see occur to others is nauseating.
Sell’s flounder post was a prime example. He shared a successful - and legal - day with the forum and it got bashed to the point people ran out of things to bash about and had to turn to shrimpers and trawlers and all get out. When I see that I keep hoping for fresh posts so that topic slowly sinks to page 2 and I don’t have to look at the header, regardless of what the latest person said.
I appreciate the advice and nice comments I’ve recieved. I’ve typically tried to inform, entertain and/or amuse on a post. I’ve tried to be positive in my responses to others’ posts. I’m thankful for the people I’ve personally had the pleasure of meeting that I never would have before this website. But the negative nature of alot of the comments is slowly fading me away from it.
Like Opt said, Summerville Saltwater Anglers has been a refreshing way to personally do what this website often did - educate, share knowledge and fellowship. We both serve on the board (having met via CF.com, BTW), and it has been rewarding to bring good people together with shared values and a passion for fishing to enjoy the sport that we truly love. Like he said, its been a great education, and great family oriented FUN!
Don’t stop posting Vin, I enjoy seeing you and your kids out having fun. Also, I feel like I learn a little from many of the posts here. It does bruise the ego a bit when I see Megan catching bigger fish than I do but it helps me grow. Keep it up!
If someone picked on you for posting reports and then you stopped, wouldn’t that mean they “won”. Keep posting reports regardless if people are picking on you. 23 was picked on more than most people and he just powered thru it and now has the most posts on this site. Had he “taken his ball and gone home” we wouldn’t have the weekly pickem that a bunch of people enjoy. Don’t let a few naysayers spoil the fun and informative fishing reports you could be posting.
Anyone have any tips to fish in a 15-20 NW wind tomorrow? I’m thinking it will be a small creek kinda day trying to stay out of the wind as much as possible. Good luck to those that can get out over the next few days. Keep the reports coming.
