Will the real ball coach, pls stand up?

Funny watching national coverage and respect shown for Spurrier from all over the country…

With so many folks sharing different versions of how the coach had a positive effect on his or her life, its hard to think how all these people can be wrong…

Makes me wonder how fun it must be to take shots at a man and degrade him while the entire coaching fraternity is thanking him one way or another.

Common sense and class aren’t handed out to everyone when the water breaks and that’s just too bad.

Carry on azzholes:smiley:

A+

Put a tampon in it dude…we are just saying he quit, nothing more. Hang your hat on something else. He quit.

Azzhole pretty much sums the guy up.

Sorry

Anything past the “nothing more.” and you prove my point…
Again,carry on…

All needling aside, with the plethora of unprecedented things Spurrier has done in his career, the steady rise then unimaginable decline to the program at South Carolina has to be an anomaly in college football. I really still don’t understand how things went to s#$t so quickly.

I’m sure they’ll argue that fact. Laughable

I understand not liking him. I did not like him when he was at Florida. I think what he did was in the best interest of the school. I think he came to the realization that he could no longer make things work the way he has during his career and that he would do the program more damage than good by staying with everyone knowing he was gone at the end of the year. Call it quitting or whatever you want. By doing this he did give his staff a fighting chance to prove themselves instead of all losing their jobs at the end of the year when he left. There is no sense in being a lame duck coach. That is what Holtz did and he lost the team with the grand finally being the brawl at Clemson. Most of the Carolina fans I speak with are not upset with him leaving at all. He has cleared the deck for the school to start working toward the future. There was a great SEC Stories about him on ESPNU tonight. It went from his childhood on and helped you understand why he was so driven. It was a really good piece. Love him or hate him, he was one of the best. Like you Raddaddy I was surprised with how quickly things collapsed, but it really came down to lack of depth and not developing what they did have on the roster, which makes me think new blood will be brought in at the end of this season.

All I can say is the Washington Redskins have never been the same after Spurrier tried “coaching them up”,now he can coach up high schoolers.

Enjoy the free time Stevie

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

This was a good post on another board. It's filled with facts though so prepare for it to be scrutinized by the haters:

Well, it wasn’t actually quick, if you were really paying attention (or if you go back and look now). It started when Beamer and Graham left the staff. They were replaced with lesser coaches/recruiters (MUCH less, in Graham’s case; Sands is without hyperbole the worst recruiting RB coach in the SEC). Jr. was named recruiting coordinator and that was a special kind of awful decision. He doesn’t recruit, admits he doesn’t like talking on the phone, and bases his territory on proximity to his vacation home. Then Johnson left, and instead of replacing him with a solid DC, we elevated Ward, who cannot evaluate talent, and can’t run a defense on his own (don’t give me 2012. We did have a solid DC that year. Two in fact. They wore numbers 36 and 54). Then we lost Lawing and replaced him with a coach who “taught” or dlinemen to ignore assignments and rush up field all the time. Want to know why Adams and Botkin almost came to blows in Athens 2 years ago? I’m willing to bet it was over that: dlinement not fulfilling assignments. Oh, and I should have mentioned before. We haven’t recruited a runningback who has made a solid contribution since the 2012 class. Seriously. Mike Davis was the last one. UGA brings in 2 every year, it seems.

So that’s where it went off the rails. It wasn’t sudden. It just took time to show up on the field. Now it has, and it is what it is.

If it helps him relate to the players, then so be it. You’re right, it’s not hurting a (**() thing, and probably helping immensely with attitude and commitment. Like you said, a coach that is passionate about winning and shows some emotion means a lot to these kids.
