Man, that whaler clone is too cool. Definitely one of a kind!

Here’s my boat. 1973 Aquasport 19-6 that I put some work into. It was originally a spill cleanup boat for one of the plants on the Cooper River.

In this shot, there’s actually an 81’ Aquasport running behind me-

not a bit, i was worried about the slam latched hatches popping open in rough water, but i ran it across knee high swells with the throttle pinned, just beat the hell out of it, & it was nice & quiet, all hatches stayed shut. the deck is rock solid. rides surprisingly dry too

i rolled rustoleum brand bed liner on all the diamond plate ($18 per quart @ lowes). that may have helped the quietness, also i feared it would get hot being that it’s black, but it stays cool even in direct sunlight. on an 80 degree day i stood on it barefoot poling around a mudflat for 2 hours, you pole this jon boat backwards =)

here’s some pictures under the deck taken during construction:

nice, keep 'em coming

here’s a few more of my jon boat project progress. got the hull primed & painted tan, started practicing with camo stencils, installed 2 flush vertical rod holders & 4 cleats, also extended the trailer tongue using a hinge, didn’t really need/want the hinge, but needed more tongue length because the trailer was too small. fits great now!

Neat job on the johnboat!
