Adam, I’ve got a brand new boat almost finished up. 100% operational, she just needs some final trim work, T top, and upholstery before I turn her loose to the owner. And a couple of more sea trials to make sure that all is good She really needs to get some blood on her that isn’t mine. Let me know your work schedule next week and we’ll go check out the cobia population in person and dirty up this new boat a little bit. Best tides coming up are around Easter weekend. She’s way too clean and I can’t turn it over to my client without being sure that it will catch a fish. All part of the sea trials:smiley:

Man o Man Larry, I’m so envious , that boat tops the list on all
“home made” I’ve ever seen!!! You’ve got something there
that anyone would be more than proud to sport around.
GREAT,GREAT JOB!!!
Nope, no implied threats at all, but I don’t take any crap from fools either. You know where to find me, you know where to call me, or email. If you want to act like a man, come and see me in person and get out from behind that keyboard and screen name. I won’t hurt you umless you make me, I promise.
I think I might be talking to Toppy Blue and poke salad all 3 at the same time. Several real forum members have been here with and without their boats, and they have all left smiling and intact. I welcome you also.

Larry, I suggest you go back and re-read this thread from the beginning, paying particular attention to the last few pages. The bottom line is you became unhinged when I voiced my opinion on commercial fishing (and I raised a few points that you either won’t or can’t refute). If you’re not embarrassed by your behavior on this thread, then there’s no help for you. Good day.
If you mention extortion again, I’ll have your legs broken…
Larry I sent you a text. I’m off on Friday not sure if that works for you. If you have another day in mind let me know I’ll make it work. Thanks for the invite looking forward to take a cruise on the new boat.
Friday might work out perfect Adam, weather permitting. This boat may be at Martin Marine getting her top, leaning post, swim platform and other jewelry on Friday, in which case we can just take mine. She knows the way already and she aint too shabby either:smiley:

I mean putting your personal info in an internet forum argument is just asking for trouble. And by trouble I mean being entered in every publisher’s clearing house, free cruise sweepstakes, timeshare purchasing inquiry, used car inquiry, sex toys newsletter, gay pride newsletter list one could think of.
Just out of curiosity I looked up the Virginia state cobia regulations, assuming our fish go there. They have a minimum size of 37" and 1 fish per person.

On a lighter note, I have a brand new giant landing net if anyone is interested. It would be perfect for catching and releasing cobia this year. It’s actually too big to store in my small boat. Probably would be great for most of you guys bigger boats. It is a Frabill 8448. 40x48 net and 8ft long with handle.

You’re right about Va., I got a cousin and a coupla friends that fish
the ches. bay a few times yearly and also commented about their size
and personal limits and that it seems the average catch is larger
than their catch on the NC coast around MHC and south.
More time to grow I guess! Just saying!!!
quote: I'm pretty sure that they said at the meeting that it's more likely for our SC inshore fish to travel up the coast to virginia
They could be getting pounded on up there when they aren’t here? Seems like someone would know exactly where they go. They are only here for a short period every spring, other times they are somewhere else and other people are catching them, so our rules and limits may not make much difference at all to the population. We have them about 3 months a year, somebody else is fishing for them the other 9 months.
The few months they are here, yeah, there are a lot of boats in Port Royal fishing for them, but the old rule that 5% of the fishermen catch 95% of the fish still applies. There might be 50 boats out there, but maybe 3 guide boats and a few locals in that crowd really know what they are doing. The rest are just wishful and heard the fish were biting on the Internet. Even the few who know how aren’t taking a lot of fish. Catching cobia is somewhat like catching marlin, you’ve got to know how, plus put in a lot of long hours waiting. It’s not a easy fish to catch, even when you know how.

DNR has a few hundred recaptures of cobia tagged in Port Royal. Their results showed that almost all the cobia tagged in Port Royal were only recaptured back in Port Royal, or in nearshore areas migrating in and out. It appears that they are migrating somewhere that doesn’t get nearly as much fishing pressure in the
Cracker Larry that boat is a work of art. I hope to see it in person this year on the river. A lot of passion has been shown in this thread. Also a lot of good information. The weather is warming and my dogwoods are blooming. I think we are all suffering from a long cold winter. The chips are going to fall where they may. All I am in control of is what happens in my boat. I will do as I said I would, Let’s all agree to disagree and catch some fish, share some fish stories and feel the warm salt breeze on our faces! Tight lines guys!
