If Fournette had not sat out the last half of the Florida game he may have gained more yards this season*

Nice.
If they would have given him the ball more often he would have had more carries on the season also.*

Remember Florida stuffed LSU at the goal line in a game that had LSU scored a lot of things would have been different, Tenn would have gotten the chance to be blown out in the SEC championship and LSU would be playing in a better bowl game. But Fournette mailed it in this season and sat out as much as he played I felt like. To each his own. Do scholarships say how many games you need to play in to be eligible? Post season games count towards that number? How many of you put in an extra 25 hours a week at your job?

He was hurt and was not even supposed to play. He was in street clothes when the LSU\UF players got into a scuffle before the game. Then decided he would suit up and play.

Get off your high horse buddy…
Head coaching job at Heathwood Hall doesn’t get momma a new house and a new Buick, NFL salary will. Just ask Marcus.
Marcus still got 1.7 million from an insurance policy and a signing bonus; not bad. May not be set for live but a good head start. Plus, he seemed have his head screwed on straight.
Marcus got hurt midway through the season…Maybe DW should sit out the playoff game. It only makes since right?

My point is,you’re only one hit away from having a head start,or having an Adrian Peterson,Jamaal Charles,or LeSean McCoy salary.
Hell, why did he play this year at all?

I’m not sure why you keep going back to this weak refrain. The point of the entire thread is playoff system weakening the other bowls. Fournette and McAffrey have nothing to prove by winning the Hyundai Sun Bowl or the Citrus Bowl. DW is playing to win the whole (**() thing. There’s personal pride involved there. Not to mention these are both skill players that are going to get hit a lot.
Ironically, none of us are in a position to judge an unpaid athlete not playing in a game for a coach that’s making $4 millionish/year so a school can make between $2-$4 mil dollars to win a game that gets the athlete absolutely nothing. It’s a business decision, and a smart one. They’re not in it for the degree, and if you’re going to make an argument about how they’ve benefited from the University, then you should probably think about how the University benefited from them.

This is great. I guess only Clemson players have “personal pride involved there”. That is so idiotic.
Do you think the team that has never been to a bowl game have “personal pride involved”?
This high and mighty BS is laughable.
Some programs have NEVER been to a bowl game. Some programs are playing for a winning record, some are playing for the first 11 win season. Your an idiot if dont think those kids have person pride involved.
it is also laughable that NONE of the CU fans have answered, would you support DW sitting out the p

I would support DW’s decision.
Cam Newton makes $20,760,000/ year, let that sink in.

i’m not bent out of shape. I have no problem stating that I think if a player sits out, he is selfish. and personally think he should repay the school.
Which bowl it is DOES NOT matter. this is a team sport supported by the fans and you were given a scholarship to play. so play.
I completely disagree with those of you(seems to only be CU fans) that believe only the players on the playoff teams care about the games. that only the top 4 teams have personal pride. That is just bias BS.
You know, we had this same discussion about Clowney a few years back…and most of the Clemson/South Carolina fans’ stances were opposite…just saying. Perspective is everything.
I ain’t mad at ya Geronimo!
Yeah, Clowney. Isn’t that the guy RBF said Beasley would not want to face on the field?
You are right about that. And one thing is certain. Fishb8 will change his perspective if he gets the chance to argue with a Tater.

Yes it’s selfish, because they’re looking out for the rest of their lives vs a meaningless bowl game. Selfish doesn’t always equal bad.
You seem to be hung up on the personal pride thing. Nobody said only playoff teams have personal pride, that was my argument about DW specifically. Now, purely based on the fact they’ve chosen not to play, I would say that both McCaffrey and Fournette do not feel enough personal pride winning these bowl games to risk an injury and ruin their career. Stop and think about that before you start rampage replying. They’ve been presented with two options and chose one. One side has personal pride, the other has a career. They chose the latter. This is a fact.
