Pretty sure I heard Lamar say last night that if he wins he would be the first winner from Florida. Too funny. OBC and Danny Wuerfell might want to enlighten him.
I was playing a band gig during the presentation, they had it on the tele but no sound. I was, of course, disappointed for Deshaun when Lamar stood up but didn’t hear the speech. I looked it up yesterday and found several articles about how heart warming and personal it was before I found the link. I thought, well maybe he’s a well spoken, good guy after all. I finally found the speech. I wonder if his teachers curve his grades… he was an embarrassment to accredited degrees everywhere.
“The Heisman is awarded annually to the most outstanding player in college football in the United States whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity”.
I didn’t see anything about the quality of the team the person played on or his win/loss record.
Personally I think it is an overrated award.
“Apathy is the Glove into Which Evil Slips It’s Hand”, but really, who cares?
I wonder if Clemson fans should take a note from the political scene and question if Lamar is actually even in college. We could probably make the case here.
They should have them take one of the last 3 tests, randomly selected, they have already taken again at the ceremony, just before the trophy is awarded. If they pass, they are eligible. I bet he wouldn’t have passed.

I guess the pursuit of excellence could be part of that. It’s subjective. Anyway, I don’t think many of the voters understand the qualification either. I heard several referring to “the best player” in college football. Either way, you’d think the best or most outstanding player would be on defense more than once every hundred years.

I understand where you are coming from 100%…however…have you listened to any other college football players lately? Or pro football players for that matter? Unfortunately, most sound similar to Lamar. I don’t know him, nor do I know anything about him other than two things: 1. He’s an outstanding athlete and 2. He has a mother that he cherishes for how she raised him. The kid is ok in my book.
why must a team be good in order for a player to be outstanding? why does a candidate play in his division champ game?(btw that would leave out everyone on OSU’s team)…
